Frequently asked Questions

Q:What to expect from a Thai  massage?

A: The therapist uses their hands (thumbs, elbows, forearms) and sometimes, even their feet to reduce tension in the muscles. The massage does not use oils or lotions. The therapist will move the person's body into yoga-like positions (assisted yoga) in addition to pulling and rocking the body in various other ways.

Q:How often should you get a Thai massage?

A;Some clients should get a massage weekly or every other week to help alleviate pain or to focus on problem areas. But for those without a physical problem should get a massage at least once a month to decrease tension, stiffness, stress, and to prevent problems before they happen.

Q:Do you wear clothes during a Thai massage?

A:As Thai Massage is a lot about pressing, acupressure and stretching, it's quite essential to wears clothes in order for the masseur/therapist to get a firm grip. You should be wearing comfortable, flexible, loose-fitting clothes to be able to do the stretches on you and other “acrobatic” moves or Yoga-like poses.

Q:Should you be sore after a Thai massage?

A:Massage is a bit (only a little bit, we promise) like a workout. If the muscles are not used to it, they can respond with some soreness. This should last for no more than a day or two and if it lasts any longer, the massage may have been too intense and we can adjust for this in your next massage.

Q:Should I eat before Thai massage?

A:A few hours prior to your massage appointment, it would be wiser if you eat only light meals. By doing so you will be comfortable during the entire massage session. Eating light meal will keep you full during the process.

Q:What makes a Thai massage different?

A:One of the biggest differences between a Thai massage and a traditional one is the equipment, or lack thereof. A Thai massage takes place on the floor or mat and requires more movement than a traditional massage. Thai massage aims to relieve joint and muscle pain through a series of stretches using your entire body.

Q:What are benefits of Thai Massage?

A: Thai massage is an ancient practice with many benefits that are supported by modern science. It may reduce the severity of your headaches, decrease lower back and joint pain, increase your flexibility, calm your anxieties, and energize your mind and body.

Q:Is Thai Massage good for pregnancy?

A:An increase in circulation, blood flow and oxygen uptake, allows feel-good endorphins to be released. As the months progress, you're likely to feel squashed and compressed from all angles, and it is here where Thai Massage excels, by encouraging much needed spaciousness and softness back into your body.
